Immersion Inspection is a test method in which the test object and the transducer are submerged in a liquid (usually water) that acts as the coupling medium. The probe is not usually in contact with the test specimen. An immersion system is a device in which the test procedure is carried out and is usually automated with motors and encoders for controlling the probe position and reading the ultrasonic data.
General Purpose Immersion Systems:
General purpose immersion systems can be manufactured in any size and can incorporate turn-tables (aero-engine disc inspection), roller blocks (tube inspection) or any other specialist equipment to customer requirements.
Fan Blade Scanners:
The M403V fan blade scanner is the latest in a range of inspection systems supplied exclusively to Rolls Royce Plc. and International Aero Engines AG for the in-service inspection of wide-chord fan blades.
RTM Inspection Systems:
Prismatic inspection is a new patented immersion inspection technique developed by Midas-NDT for the inspection of RTM (Resin Transfer Moulding) components.
